Bringing together Sahtu partnership

Tulita Land Corporation subsidiary Mackay Range Development Corporation and Kwii Cho BBE Ltd. have joined forces in MacKay Expediting and Logistics Ltd. to address the logistical requirements of resource developers in the Sahtu. The partnership creates a majority-owned Tulita business and an organization that has 100% Aboriginal ownership, including the people of Deline, Inuvialuit and Inuit, through their respective business subsidiaries.

Danny McNeely, General Manager of Mackay Range Development Corporation, sees this as a model business venture. “MRDC and Kwii Cho BBE, both truly northern land claim subsidiaries, have once again demonstrated capacity-building relations through this joint venture, which provides opportunities for the residents and beneficiaries of the Tulita Land Corporation and its partners, in logistics and supply chain management.”

As President and CEO for Deline Land Corporation and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Techi?o Ltd., Peter Menacho was an early advocate of the concept. “Our joint venture business gives both districts in the Sahtu Settlement Area the true value of an expediting and logistics service. Our goal is working towards building capacity and opportunity through a one-stop service for all of our clients in our respected areas.”

MacKay Expediting and Logistics will provide source to site solutions for clients in the Sahtu, utilizing local resources as well as BBE’s network of facilities for consolidation and hands-on management of materials. BBE’s experience in large-scale resource projects will help develop the partnership’s services and build a team of Sahtu-based expediters capable of providing the high level of service industry expects, from Calgary to the Sahtu.
