Strength through partnership
A contract signed recently between Aurora Expediting Services
(AES) of Inuvik, and Devon Canada Corporation, of Calgary, is a testament
to the strength the BBE group of companies brings to customers doing work
in remote areas of Canada’s north.
AES’ knowledge and experience in supporting oil and gas explorers
within the Beaufort Delta Region, combined with BBE’s solid track
record, expertise, infrastructure and technological capability in logistics
created the right fit for Devon’s needs.
BBE is working closely with Devon to customize its web based freight tracking
system to enable offshore, onshore and head office personnel to electronically
monitor the status of the shipments and materials from the time of order
to the time the goods are stored in inventory aboard Devon’s offshore
drilling platform.
AES and BBE are very excited Devon has subcontracted this critical logistics
and expediting function for their first arctic offshore well to an outside
company, demonstrating trust and confidence in the capabilities of the AES/BBE
partnership.

Hank
Bakker, Northern Group Leader, Drilling, Devon Canada Corporation, Calgary
(L) congratulates Stuart Russell, President, Aurora Expediting Services,
Inuvik (R) on the awarding of Devon’s Expediting & Logistics
support services contract for 2005/2006 to Aurora Expediting Services
“Inuvik’s Aurora Expediting Services was awarded the Devon
Canada Corporation Master Goods and Services Agreement for Expediting
and Logistics Services for the planned Devon Beaufort Sea offshore drilling
program in 2005/2006. Aurora Expediting Services (AES) and its joint venture
partner, Braden-Burry Expediting (BBE) of Yellowknife, developed a comprehensive
suite of services to provide Devon with ‘Source to Site’ transportation
solutions and meet Devon’s information and data management requirements
for the project” stated Stuart Russell, President, AES.
“AES and BBE were well positioned to meet the needs of this project.
We are utilizing BBE’s Alberta facilities and web-based freight
tracking systems and merging them with the Inuvik staff, resources and
capabilities of AES and the other Inuvik-based IDC transportation companies,
Aklak Air and Aklak Canadian Helicopters,” states Sean Gray, the
IDC Aviation Services Manager who oversees the Inuvik expediting operation.
Gray added that “In 2002 when BBE and the Inuvialuit Development
Corporation established AES, there were great hopes that in time we would
collectively bring new technology, systems and training to the region,
so AES could participate in important project such as the Devon Paktoa
well. We are very excited to be working with Devon on their new offshore
project and believe we can add value through our efforts.”
