The Hudson Bay Port Company and Braden Burry Expediting (BBE) today announce a new service to Nunavut through the Port of Churchill. Now customers in the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut will be able to obtain an all-inclusive, through rate from the origin in Winnipeg to the destination in the towns on the western shore of Hudson's Bay. “We are very excited about the new service,” said Eitan Dehtiar, BBE’s Vice President of Finance, the company that will be providing the logistical and stevedoring services for the movement of freight from Winnipeg to the towns in Nunavut. “BBE is operating a warehouse in Winnipeg at which it consolidates and stages the freight for movement by truck to Thompson or The Pas, from where the Hudson Bay Railway then transports it to Churchill,” Dehtiar said. “At the Port, BBE then transfers the freight onto ships or barges for delivery to the customer.” Pat Avery, Vice President – Commodities for OmniTRAX Canada, the owner of the Port, said, “This new service offers the customers of the Port and BBE an expedited, cost effective way to move their freight. The consumer will benefit from frequent service options and not have to rely on once a season deliveries from the East Coast.” His Worship Michael Spence, mayor of Churchill, stated, “Having a service like this one announced by BBE and the Port is terrific news. It not only will benefit consumers in Nunavut but also the citizens of Churchill as all will benefit from an economic, efficient service to the North.” BBE, headquartered in Yellowknife, NWT, has been providing high quality supply chain management, project planning and third party logistical services to clients operating in northern Canada since 1977.
